Carolina Foothills Artisan Center is mentioned in the new 2010 Rand McNally Atlas! We are included with a number of other great places to visit along a road trip that Rand McNally folks mapped out that goes from Rock Hill to Greenwood.
Being mentioned in the Atlas is a big deal to us because this is a NATION-WIDE publication!

COLORS art program at CFAC
In partnership with Spartanburg Art Museum, Spartanburg Workforce Investment Board and ACHIEVE of Spartanburg County, Carolina Foothills Artisan Center is very proud to host the COLORS art studio program here at CFAC.
The ACHIEVE program offers instruction to non-traditional students who are in training to receive their G.E.D. This partnership allows those students to now have access to art training by professional artists, using professional supplies.
We here at CFAC hope that this initial program opens doors to offer even more COLORS training available to all of the students in the Chesnee area.

Information on Summer and Fall Art Festivals & Contests
We've received applications from two different art contest/festivals. One is an international contest in France, one is a Fall Festival in Young Harris, GA.
I've put links on our website to each of the contests/festivals. The link to our website is:
http://www.cfac.us
I did notice that the website for Young Harris, GA was very nice and that they have lots of other festivals and events all during the year. It made me wonder what it's like living in that part of the country!

Private Guitar lessons offered at CFAC
Beginning in March 2009, Hometown Music Studios will be offering private guitar lessons in conjunction with Carolina Foothills Artisan Center. The lessons will be held in our classroom space downstairs. Parking and entrance are in the rear of the building which is accessed from Alabama Avenue (Hwy 221).
Classes are taught by Doug Wood, a seven-year student of Joe Bennett of "The Sparkletones". His teaching style consists of
- basic guitar theory including the basic anatomyof a guitar and finger exercises for strength
- using the genre of music the student is interested in,
- "lifting" which is a technique used to immediately play a song never heard before
- developing the ability to play without reading music
- most importantly, the ability to improvise and develop an individual style for each student
Class information:
- Lessons are offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
- Classes are given once a week for 30 minutes per lesson.
- Classes are $15 per session and full payment ($60) is due for the entire month at the first lesson of each month. There are no exceptions to this rule.
For more information, or to sign up for classes, call Doug Wood at 864-415-3738
